A few years ago, one of my best friends died of cancer. Two weeks before she died, I had a conversation with her that changed the trajectory of my life and career forever.
She told me that everyone sees her as a cancer patient, but really it is her mental health that she is struggling with. She was searching for the mental strength she needed to tackle each day.

BEZYL IS PRONOUNCED BEH-ZL
As part of my own mental health journey, horses were a big part of my life. I never owned a horse, but every chance I got I would work on horse farms to gain experience and just be around them.
A few years ago I lived and worked in Beer Sheva, Israel and I found a side gig taking care of horses in the desert. There was one Arabian pony, NAMED BEZELET whom I grew to love. She and I formed a bond as I worked with her every day to help her overcome the fears she had of absolutely everything (very much like myself - I feel I have lived my entire life conquering one fear to the next).
Bezelet and I went through this journey of conquering fears together and we grew to trust each other completely. One day I was able to get her over water for the first time and it was a moment that brought me to tears.
Bezelet is the Hebrew word for BASALT, because of her coloring that matches the rock. Basalt is a very strong rock because of how it was formed under intense heat.
Bezyl is a nod to this little Arabian pony who was full of fear and she simply needed love and encouragement to get over the little puddles of water. It's no different for people. Mental health can be strengthened if we all take care of each other and we find easier ways to communicate and get the support we need from each other.
